The W. N. Hunter Gospel Choir was organized in November, 1970 by Estelle H. McCadden, to engage young members of the church and those who previously were members of the Junior Choir yet too young for the Senior Choir to continue to serve the Lord through song.
For lack of a name, the group decided on the name “Choir #2″ until they felt they could select another name. We were given permission to sing two selections on the 4th Sunday of each month.
Several years later, the suggestion was made to name the choir for their pastor. He was invited to come to the next rehearsal and asked if it was ok to name the choir in his honor. His answer was ” if that is what you want, then it is alright with me.” Thus our name was changed from Choir #2 to the W. N. Hunter Gospel Choir.
The church accepted the name change and gave us the opportunity to sing on the 4th Sunday of each month. Through a lot of blocks in the road, we have persevered and still singing to the glory and honor of serving the Lord in our own humble way.
